Support
Need help with Kin, or found something that isn’t working? Email support@bonnicilabs.com. Tell us which device and iOS version you use, and what you expected to happen. Please don’t send health details about your child. We don’t need them to help, and we’d rather not hold them.
Answers to the most common questions are below.
Sharing with a co-parent
How do I invite the other parent?
Go to Baby › Family & sharing and tap Invite a parent over iCloud. Send the invite by Messages, Mail or any other app. The other parent opens the link on their iPhone, taps to accept, and the child’s records appear in their copy of Kin. They need Kin installed and need to be signed in to iCloud.
Each child is shared separately, so if you have more than one child, invite the other parent to each one.
Changes don’t show up on the other phone
- Check that both phones are signed in to iCloud, under Settings › your name.
- Open Kin on both phones. Changes usually arrive within a minute, and sooner while the app is open.
- If you tapped Invite a parent over iCloud but no invite appeared, delete and reinstall Kin on that phone, then try the invite again.
How do I stop sharing, or leave a shared family?
If you shared the child, open Baby › Family & sharing and tap Invite a parent over iCloud. Apple’s sharing screen there lets you remove people or stop sharing. If someone shared a child with you, tap Manage sharing or leave. Leaving takes that child’s records off your device and stops their reminders there. The family keeps their copy, and you can rejoin if they invite you again.
Your data
Where is my data kept?
On your devices and in your own private iCloud. There is no Kin server, and we can’t see your data. The privacy policy has the details.
I have a new phone, or I reinstalled Kin
Sign in with the same Apple Account and open Kin. It shows Looking for your family in iCloud while it downloads your records. Wait for it to finish rather than creating a new profile, so you don’t end up with the same child twice.
How do I export or delete my data?
Go to Baby › Export or delete data.
- Export my data creates a portable JSON file and a readable summary. The file isn’t encrypted, so only share it with people you trust.
- Delete only [your child]’s data or Delete all data removes records from this device, from your iCloud and from family members you shared with. Records someone else shared with you stay with them. Deleting can’t be undone.
Apple Health
How do I connect Apple Health?
Open Pregnancy › Weight & blood pressure and tap Connect Apple Health. You choose exactly which data Kin may read and write in Apple’s permission screen. Your own sleep is a separate permission, offered in Sleep insights.
How do I change or remove Kin’s Health access?
Open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps › Kin. Turning a category off there stops Kin reading or writing it. Readings already imported stay in Kin until you delete them.
App Lock, widgets and Apple Watch
How do I lock Kin with Face ID?
Turn on Baby › Require Face ID. While it’s on, Kin’s widgets and watch complications hide your child’s details.
How do I add the widgets?
Touch and hold your Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose Kin. The widgets follow whichever child is selected in the app.
How do I get Kin on Apple Watch?
Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps, and tap Install next to Kin. The watch shows the child selected on your iPhone and logs a feed, nap or nappy with one tap.
Health questions
Kin keeps records. It isn’t a medical device and doesn’t give medical advice. If something about your pregnancy or your child worries you, contact your midwife, doctor or health visitor. You don’t need to wait for an appointment.
